Join me for this opportunity to explore and create from the beauty of the draped human form (non-nude). I will offer constructive instruction and advice as needed on multi-medium sketching and illustration in a comfortable professional setting, with the goal of increasing your observation and craftsmanship skills. From novice to professional, this class allows you to advance and develop at your own pace and effort, learning from experience while building confidence. Let me will guide you on the basics of gesture, line, mass, form, articulation, volume, and just plain fun when creating the human form. Whether your interests are reality, cartooning, animation, or just figure drawing for the beauty of it, this is an opportunity guaranteed to educated and build confidence. There will be demonstrations, instruction, tutored exercises, and self-guided work on your path to creating more appreciated and accurate human forms. Much of the focus will be on sketching/drawing techniques including shading/shadow/tone comprehension. Explore the subtleties and nuances of recreating the human form in parts and its entirety. It’s a study in patience and “seeing” as much as it is a sketching experience. Supply List: Large drawing pad(s) of sketch paper (18" x 24"). Note: "sketch" pads are cheaper than "drawing" pads and always have more paper in them! Michaels or WalMart are usually the least expensive. Graphite pencils. 2-B and 4-B are recommended A Blending stump. (they look like little paper cigars and usually come in a variety pack of sizes. They're cheap but invaluable!) Kneaded Eraser Hand held pencil sharpener (manual or battery/electric) You may want to add color pencil and/or charcoal to your art box eventually, but we won't use those for the first 3 weeks at least as we will be focusing on graphite.

CLASS CANCELLATION:
We find that students learn better in larger groups. If we feel the number of registrations is too low to promote a good learning environment, we may cancel the class. In the event we cancel a class, we will reach out to you as soon as possible to come to a solution.
TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:
We try to make our classes as accessible to everyone as possible. We are able to offer a limited number of tuition assistance scholarships each term. You can complete an application on our website or call our office for assistance applying.
MULTI-CLASS DISCOUNT:
When you register for more than one class, you can receive a discount up to 10% per class!
ADA ACCESSIBILITY & ACCOMMODATIONS:
Our classrooms are ADA accessible. Some courses may involve tasks or activities that may be difficult for individuals with limited strength, difficulty bending over, and sitting or standing for long periods of time. We are happy to work with students to find solutions to make their experience positive and doable. For example, wheel throwing takes arm strength and bending over the wheel. Students may work on hand-building projects instead of throwing. Please reach out to our office to discuss your needs.
LIVE MODELS:
All of our models are either in costumes or wearing nude colored undergarments. We do not use nude models for our classes.
