Create fantastic pieces and participate in an art exhibit at VAI!
Watercolor is one of the most popular mediums because of its portability and the ease of set up and
clean up. Watercolor paint is a safe medium to work with.
Participants will be introduced to different
watercolor techniques including utilizing different papers and mediums, water-to-paint ratios, hard
and soft edges, and preserving paper-white highlights. Lessons are designed to teach you the basic
skills that will help you achieve success.
This class is a Creative Aging program made possible through a grant from the Utah Division of Arts & Museums. As such we ask that participants be over 55. (If you wish to attend the class with someone over 55, please reach out to our office to register.)
This is NOT a Flex Pass or Drop-in eligible class. Students commit to attending the full seven-week class.
This class is taught by Lyra Zoe Smith. Lyra is an artist who has worked with us as our primary outreach teacher to
Neighborhood House, specifically working with their senior population. Lyra has tremendous
people skills and is skilled at motivating participants and breaking down the class objectives
into manageable daily goals to help each participant feel good about what they accomplish each
week. She is very patient and pleasant to work with.
Supplies will be provided.
Participants must be 55 years to 110 years old when the program starts.
Registration starts on 01/20/2025 and ends on 02/12/2025.
Please contact Visual Art Institute if you have any questions.
