Description

Coming back to clay? New to clay? We’ve got you! This evening class is designed for absolute beginners in ceramics and those with some familiarity. Those new or new-ish to the ceramics process and who are interested in expanding their skillset in ceramics, are encouraged to take this class 2-3 times before moving up. If you are seeking an advanced ceramics class, please look further on our class list for Ceramics Level 3.

In this beginning to intermediate class, students are invited to learn or expand on the foundations of working with clay. Students can expect demonstrations to support learning methods in wheel throwing (centering, pulling, and vessel formation) and hand-building (pinch, coil, slab). After demonstrations, students may work freely on their own projects with some support. Additional instruction will be woven into lessons to build knowledge in the areas of glazing techniques, function, design, and expression. All students enrolled in current, regular session ceramics classes have
unlimited access to posted open studio hours within the ceramics area. Open studio
hours change each session. However, average access includes about 30-40
hours per week. All students must become familiar with and follow our clay studio

ceramics studio. See below for materials information.
