Level up in ceramics 3!
This class can be created based on student inquiry. If you believe you would benefit
more from an advanced ceramics class, please join the waitlist for this class and send a
brief email to [email protected] describing your interests. You will not be
charged unless the class runs. This class will require a minimum enrollment to run.
Class day and time: A consistent weekly or monthly class schedule will be determined
based on interests, needs and other department programming.
In this advanced ceramics class, students will learn by participating in a series of
advanced demonstrations and guided projects. Emphasis will be on troubleshooting
and refining techniques in both hand-building and throwing. Examples of projects MAY
include, sculptural forms, large planters, plates/ platters, ewers, coffee pour-overs, etc.
Students are invited to explore their own interests with some instructor support.
Additional instruction will be woven into lessons to expand knowledge in the areas of
surface treatments, function, design, and expression. All students enrolled in current,
regular session ceramics classes have unlimited access to posted open studio hours
within the ceramics area. Open studio hours change each 12-week session. However,
average access includes about 30-40 hours per week. All students must become
familiar with and follow our clay studio rules and guidelines which are emailed during
the first week and posted in the ceramics studio. See below for materials information.
