Drawing & Collage in Procreate

You can do ANYTHING with an awesome drawing! In this class, students will explore ways to bring black and white drawings to life in Procreate, using experimental layers of color, texture, and hand-drawn lettering. All projects will be started on paper and completed on the iPad, or on computers in VAI's 2D digital lab. About half of the class days will focus on drawing with pencil on paper, as well as creating scannable layers with different wet and dry mediums. Students will learn how to manipulate their hand-made work digitally, and layer it to create finished pieces. This class is a great introduction to Procreate on the iPad, and will be enjoyable for students who are beginners, as well as students with more digital media experience.

Required Supplies:

- 8x10 inch sketchbook with white paper

- Drawing pencils and erasers

Optional Supplies: 

- iPad with "Procreate" program installed & Apple Pencil (or your preferred stylus)

*NOTE* We have iPads and Apple Pencils available for you to use at VAI during class time. Bringing your own iPad/stylus is nice because you'll be able to take in-progress projects home and continue working on them at your leisure.
