Description

Learn several ways to use a calligraphy brush, and train your composition skills and control over ink and water. 毛笔的多种笔法,以及中国画的构图和水墨关系。中国十二花神人物和诗词,听《山海经》故事。

 

Calligraphy and Chinese painting are important parts of traditional Chinese art. They are also a way of presenting Chinese philosophy and cognition.
Children not only learn calligraphy and Chinese painting skills, but also learn about traditional Chinese culture in the process. This includes the twelve flower goddesses and their corresponding figures and classic poems, as well as stories from the Classic of Mountains and Seas and animals from ancient legends.
This class is ideal for kids who are new to painting and interested in Chinese calligraphy and painting.

 

Monthly Topic Breakdown:

April: Clerical script and flowers,animals from book and demonstration隶书和花、山海经动物
May: Seal script and flowers ,animals from book and demonstration篆书和花、山海经动物

 

Skills Learned in the Class:

Studying traditional Chinese literature
Learn the writing styles of different fonts
The coordination between the brush and oneself.
Developing line control and mark-making
Improving composition and page layout
Strengthening critical thinking and visual problem-solving
Provide children with opportunities for social practice

 


All materials will be provided for this class.

 

This is an 8 Week class. Class will not be held April 11th or 18th.

 

LOCATION:

Visual Art Institute 2900 S 300 W, South Salt Lake, Utah

 

Please park on the NORTH side of the building and enter up the ramp to the front office. It is the really colorful side of the building.

 

 

INSTRUCTOR:
This class is taught by Asian Arts and Culture Association Teacher Yue.

 

DROP-INS:

 

This class is open to drop-in students, but you must register online in advance for the date you want to attend.

 

REFUND POLICY:

We are only able to offer refunds up to 2 weeks before the start of class. We do not offer refunds or credits or make-up classes to students who miss class.

 

TRANSFER POLICY:

We may be able to transfer you to a different class depending on space availability.

 

CLASS CANCELLATION:

We find that students learn better in larger groups. If we feel the number of registrations is too low to promote a good learning environment, we may cancel the class. In the event we cancel a class, we will reach out to you as soon as possible.

 

TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:

As this class is being offered by the Asian Arts and Culture Association, we are unable to offer tuition assistance on this class.

 

MULTI-CLASS DISCOUNT:

As this class is being offered by the Asian Arts and Culture Association, we are unable to offer discounts on this class.

 

ADA ACCESSIBILITY & ACCOMMODATIONS:

Our classrooms are ADA accessible. Some courses may involve tasks or activities that may be difficult for individuals with limited strength, difficulty bending over, and sitting or standing for long periods of time. We are happy to work with students to find solutions to make their experience positive and doable. For example, wheel throwing takes arm strength and bending over the wheel. Students may work on hand-building projects instead of throwing. Please reach out to our office to discuss your needs.
