Friday night throwdown! Clay Mugs on the Wheel

Instructor: Shelbie Colton

In this 10-part series, students of any skill level are invited to participate in one or more 3-hour, instructor lead classes covering the foundations of working with clay. Themed projects will vary from week to week and may be wheel or hand-building based. Students may enroll in one themed class at a time or may enroll in multiple individual classes. Any students holding VAI flex passes may participate if there is space available.

Join us for the second of 10 drop-in sessions in ceramics. This instructor lead class will cover how to make a mug on the potter’s wheel.  Participants can expect to make 1-2 mugs which they can choose a glaze for so staff may finish the objects for them. This is a great class for those wanting to try their hand at the wheel or rediscover a past passion for clay.  Finished objects can be picked up 2-3 weeks after the class.

Materials Included

VAI Flex Pass Holders: class counts for 4 hours on your VAI Flex Pass to cover materials fee.

Rules and conditions:

Due to the format of these single drop-in classes, open studio in ceramics is not included. However, each class length is 3 hours providing ample time to learn, make, and still have time to clean up. Clay objects made by students are fired and then glazed by staff. All materials are included. Referral and other discounts do not apply to single drop-in classes.

Participants must currently be 11 years and 11 months to 100 years and 1 month old.
