“Artist” series are more saturated and colors have better light fastness. There are also more colors available. “Student” or “studio” series are less expensive, less saturated, and fade faster, but perfectly fine while learning.
With the current sale at Blick (goes through September 24, 2023), the cost for “artist” is only $.67 above the “student” grade per tube.
Sketchbook - any size
Micron Pen (size 05, Black) or extra fine tip Black Sharpie
Masking Tape
Roll of Blue Shop Towels (these are more durable- available at Home Depot, Amazon, Costco), but regular paper towels or old rags are fine too.
Pencil
This is a suggested supply list. If you have comparable supplies already on hand, feel free to bring those and we can assess what you may need for the class beyond that. You will need Watercolor Paper and 5 canvas panels - 12x16 or 5 gessoed panels.
The brushes and colors can be a bit more varied. I’ve included a photo of most of the supplies at Blick which are currently on sale. At the sale price, these will run around $172 + tax for the supplies pictured. If you are taking the class with a friend or family member, most of the supplies can be shared. These supplies will last you a long time if taken care of properly.
