6 Week Ceramics for Teens

Let’s get centered!

Modeled after our popular summer camp, this pottery-based class will offer teens the chance to learn the basics of throwing on a potter’s wheel and hand-building. Topics will include, coiling and pinching clay, and building methods for slab work. Pottery wheel lessons will cover techniques in centering, dropping the hole, and raising the roof. opps, we mean the walls!  Students can expect to finish with an assortment of fun bowls and cups to take home. Additional instruction will be woven into lessons to build knowledge in the areas of surface treatments, function, design, and expression. All students enrolled in current, 12- or 6-week ceramics classes have access to open studio hours limited to the ceramics area.

MATERIALS LIST:

 The materials fee is $25 and will be added on at payment. Students do not need to purchase any other materials and all tools are provided. This fee covers not just clay but glazes, firings, waxes, and more.
