Turn your sketchbook into an unforgettable visual journal! In this creative mixed media class, students will explore drawing, collage, pop-ups, hand lettering, and layered materials to design imaginative, interactive sketchbook pages inspired by weekly word prompts. Let’s turn your sketchbook into an unforgettable visual journal! In this highly creative mixed media class, students will learn how to tell stories with layers, combining materials to develop rich, interactive sketchbook spreads. We’ll reimagine observational drawing and painting by designing inventive pages with cutout windows, playful collage, hand-drawn lettering, charming pop-ups, and more! Each week, the instructor will share examples of creative visual journal techniques, and give students an imaginative word prompt to spark ideas for their next pages. Students will be able to work at their own pace, with options to start a new project every week if they wish, or to continue building on favorite projects from earlier weeks. Students will receive support and encouragement to try new mediums and techniques, but are also free to work in their own favorite creative styles. This sketchbook class is for artists ages 12+.
